Proudest moment essay

Charles Rodriguez

Core-3

One of my proudest moments was when I hit my first homerun.  I was 12 years old and it was a great hit.  It was towards right field, I’m left handed so that’s why it went there.  I have had a lot of proud moments of what I have done, but my first homerun was by far my favorite one.  When you hit a baseball you can feel the blood in your body rushing through your veins, it’s a great feeling.

As a lot of people know, I love baseball. I have kind of slacked off since major league. I used to be a great baseball player but then I moved up. I’m kind of adjusting to some things such as fielding.  My hitting isn’t too bad but I can do better. Being left handed isn’t very fun because you can’t play any infield positions but first base and you have to be tall for that so I can’t play that either.

Baseball is a passion for me and when I make a connection with that bat it makes me so happy. I need some more help with my fielding but that’s about all I need help with. Without this great sport I don’t know what I would do without it. Well that is what I call my proudest moment.

Book Review

Safe at home mike lupica

This was a great book! This book was about a boy named mark that was in 9th grade and was playing on the freshman baseball team. After about a month on the freshman team, the junior varsity coach had seen him playing the catcher. He had  been asked to move up to the junior varsity team, mark was so happy, the original catcher on the junior varsity team had been injured so mark would be getting much play time. Mark had originally tried out for the JV team but he was told to be on the freshman team. He had no problem playing on the freshman team.

I recommend this book to anyone who is into sports. It’s interesting.

success is counted sweetest poem and reflection

April 28, 2010 by

Success is counted sweetest
By those who ne’er succeed.
To comprehend a nectar
Requires sorest need.

Not one of all the purple host
Who took the flag to-day
Can tell the definition,
So clear, of victory!

As he, defeated, dying,
On whose forbidden ear
The distant strains of triumph
Burst agonized and clear!

Reflection: Great poem! very interesting.

Sleeping in the forest poem and reflection

April 28, 2010 by

Sleeping in the Forest

I thought the earth remembered me,
she took me back so tenderly,
arranging her dark skirts, her pockets
full of lichens and seeds.
I slept as never before, a stone on the river bed,
nothing between me and the white fire of the stars
but my thoughts, and they floated light as moths
among the branches of the perfect trees.
All night I heard the small kingdoms
breathing around me, the insects,
and the birds who do their work in the darkness.
All night I rose and fell, as if in water,
grappling with a luminous doom. By morning
I had vanished at least a dozen times
into something better.

Reflection:  This is a great poem, very much in just little words.

Touched by Angel and reflection

Touched By an Angel

By: maya Angelou

   We, unaccustomed to courage
exiles from delight
live coiled in shells of loneliness
until love leaves its high holy temple
and comes into our sight
to liberate us into life.

Love arrives
and in its train come ecstasies
old memories of pleasure
ancient histories of pain.
Yet if we are bold,
love strikes away the chains of fear
from our souls.

We are weaned from our timidity
In the flush of love’s light
we dare be brave
And suddenly we see
that love costs all we are
and will ever be.
Yet it is only love
which sets us free.

Reflection: I think that this is a good poem, very interesting.

Woman work poem, and reflection

April 27, 2010 by

Woman Work

Maya Angelou

I’ve got the children to tend
The clothes to mend
The floor to mop
The food to shop
Then the chicken to fry
The baby to dry
I got company to feed
The garden to weed
I’ve got shirts to press
The tots to dress
The can to be cut
I gotta clean up this hut
Then see about the sick
And the cotton to pick.

Shine on me, sunshine
Rain on me, rain
Fall softly, dewdrops
And cool my brow again.

Storm, blow me from here
With your fiercest wind
Let me float across the sky
‘Til I can rest again.

Fall gently, snowflakes
Cover me with white
Cold icy kisses and
Let me rest tonight.

Sun, rain, curving sky
Mountain, oceans, leaf and stone
Star shine, moon glow
You’re all that I can call my own.

Reflection: I think that this poemis great! she talks about how woman work around the house and keeping everything maintenced.
